How To Take Care Of Your Toenails

Toenail FungusGood looking and clean toe nails are a must for everyone. People take great care of their face and body, and even their fingernails, but forget or do not pay much attention to their toe nails which is not the right approach. After all, it is your feet that carry you around all day long, and even if you keep your feet wrapped in socks and shoes, there are times just as in summers when you move around in sandals, and your feet and toe nails are in full view. How do you react if a good looking woman sits in front of you and you suddenly notice her long and dirty toe nails? Ugly! This is the first word that comes to your mind. If this is how you react to others having unclean toenails, then think of others who get a chance to look at your toenails as well.

The appeal of a beautiful face and body remains incomplete if the feet and toenails are not in good shape or if they are dirty and the nails are infected. You would be surprised, but according to doctors, nails are the mirror to our over all health. The status of our health is reflected by our nails. Come to think of it, we start taking pills for any kind of sickness we may feel, but rarely pay any attention to our toe nails. We may not know it, but our nails also get lots of infections just as other body parts.

There are many types of infections that our toenails might get afflicted with. Fungus (also read, how to prevent toenail fungus), ingrown nails, discolored or de shaped nails make us feel embarrassed whenever we have to wear sandals or in places like sea beaches, water parks or swimming pools. In some case, these infections cause trouble in the form of unbearable pain such as when ingrown nails pierce our flesh and we cannot even walk properly. To avoid discomfort and to move freely even in situations when we are barefoot, it is advisable to take care of our toe nails just as we do for other body parts. We give so much time to care for our face and hair, but hardly invest anytime to look after our toenails. If we spend just a little bit of time to take care of our toenails, we will not only stay away from infections and diseases, we will also have beautiful feet and toe nails that we will be feel proud of.

Here are some important tips on how we can take care of our toenails.

1. Make sure to wash your feet and nails daily even if you were not to take a bath on a very cold day. After washing, do not forget to dry them.

2. Dip your feet in warm water that has salt in it so as to soften the roughness.

3. Toenails must be trimmed every week with scissors or nail cutters. If you do not do so, they may grow long in irregular way. Long nails get deposited with dirt and other impurities which later on cause infections.

Follow this basic ways to keep your toenails healthy and you will start getting results in a few days, you will love how your toenails look.
